Finger Lakes Independent Music Association was founded in 2014 by guitarist, composer, and educator Michael George Gonzalez. Our mission is to provide a platform for musicians to network, collaborate, and mentor each other. Our special events and programs create unique opportunities for performance opportunities, professional development, and community engagement. In addition we provide event planning, talent management, and live sound/lighting services.

Ostaga Music School

Michael began teaching privately in 2001. Since then he’s taught every situation imaginable—Private lessons, independent music stores, community music schools, public schools, enrichment programs, and retreats. He was even a mobile music teacher delivering lessons in a converted minivan. In 2014 Michael opened Gonzo Music School in downtown Geneva, NY. That grew from a handful of private students, to adding more teachers, clinicians, and workshops. In 2017 they absorbed the students and teachers from AREA Records and Music when they announced their plans to close. The new school is now called Ostaga Music School.

Port 100

Michael is a founding member of Port 100 Coworking Community. This City Of Geneva project is an innovative approach to downtown urban development. Michael was part of the team assembled by the city to develop and launch the new cowork space. He served as “Mayor” of the work space until it established an active membership and culture. Now he is the communications and social media manager. As a member he operates his FLIMA organization out of the space.
